Tamil Nadu’s growing Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem continues to attract companies, with Walgreens, one of the leading healthcare and pharmacy companies in the U.S. setting up a new GCC in Chennai. An MoU regarding this was signed with Walgreens India Private Limited on Friday (September 18, 2026), in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and Industries Minister S. Keerthana.

The proposed GCC will focus on technology and business services and is expected to create more than 250 employment opportunities in its first year, with further expansion planned over the coming years.
