Waikato drug kingpin’s partner, Sophie Anderson, sentenced for role in Operation Hurricane

The partner of a kingpin behind a drug syndicate that made $2 million in profit from drug sales helped launder more than $40,000 for the group.

Sophie Anderson was the partner of Madison Fraser-Webb, who ran a large-scale Waikato-based operation involving fraud and the commercial supply of drugs.

Anderson was one of several relatives and associates who helped launder Fraser-Webb’s criminal proceeds.

Fraser-Webb, known as “Crypto”, used cryptocurrency in his offending.

In May, Judge Glen Marshall jailed Fraser-Webb for 11 years and eight months on 39 charges and ordered him to serve a minimum non-parole period of five years and three months.
