The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has strengthened its ambient air monitoring network by commissioning three new continuous air quality monitoring stations.
The newly installed Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) have been set up at strategic locations in Akkayyapalem, Pandurangapuram, and Malkapuram. With these additions, the total number of continuous monitoring stations operated by the port authority has doubled to six.
The upgraded system will enable real-time tracking, helping officials pinpoint pollution hotspots and evaluate dust-mitigation measures. VPA officials highlighted that the robust data stream will foster transparency, support joint efforts with statutory regulators, and reinforce sustainable port practices to clean up the city’s air.
