Volunteers remove non-biodegradable waste from Anaikatti Road

Volunteers and Forest Department staff conducted a clean-up drive on the Coimbatore-Anaikatti Road to remove non-biodegradable waste. The initiative aimed to protect wildlife and raise public awareness about plastic pollution in forest areas.

The Forest Department, along with volunteers, carried out a clean-up drive on Coimbatore – Anaikatti Road, and removed non-biodegradable waste strewn by commuters along a key stretch of the road that passes through reserve forest areas.
Volunteers from the Trust for Environment and Ecosystem (TREE) and students from the VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science took part in the exercise, along with staff from Coimbatore forest range, as part of the ongoing Wildlife Week 2026 celebrations.
According to the Department, the drive was undertaken with the objective of creating awareness among the public on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in and around forest areas, saving them from littering and plastic pollution, and protecting the wildlife.
