Vizag zoo gets four new species as part of animal exchange programme
The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam has acquired four new animal species through an exchange program with a Gujarat-based trust. The zoo sent three species in return to ensure a balanced exchange of wildlife.

The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) on Saturday (September 5, 2026) announced an inter-state animal exchange programme with the Radhe Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust, Moti Khavdi, Jamnagar, Gujarat.
In a release here, IGZP Curator G. Mangamma said that as part of the programme zebra, red-necked wallaby, common marmoset and cotton-top tamarin have been received at IGZP, while Indian gaur, stump-tailed macaque and gharial have been sent to the Trust. The animals were received by the zoo on Saturday morning, she added.
