Multiple people were rescued as floods continued, the Indianapolis Star, a part of the USA TODAY Network, reported. As of Monday, Aug. 17, nearly six days after the storms that prompted the floods, flooding is now affecting homes in southern areas of the state.
"Our hearts go out to those people who have been affected by the flooding and the infrastructure loss, but now we're moving forward with things that we can control," Hamilton County commissioner Christine Altman said at an Aug. 16 news conference. "That's the assessment, recovery, reconstruction."
