Vinay Kulkarni returns to Dharwad after five years

MLA Vinay Kulkarni has returned to Dharwad district after a five-year absence mandated by legal conditions related to a murder case. While permitted to enter the district, he remains under restrictions regarding public functions and processions.
Why it matters
The return of a prominent political figure under strict legal conditions is a significant local development in regional politics.
Dharwad MLA Vinay Kulkarni, who was barred from entering Dharwad district in connection with the murder of zilla panchayat member Yogeeshgouda Goudar in 2021, returned to the city on Friday after five years.
Mr. Kulkarni, who is out on conditional bail now, has been permitted to enter Dharwad district. However, he has been barred from holding public functions and processions.
Accordingly, Mr. Kulkarni was welcomed by his family members and followers without much fanfare.
On his return to Dharwad, Mr. Kulkarni visited temples and Murugha Mutt and sought blessings of the seer.
