A group of villagers of Manganur in Gandharvakottai taluk in Pudukottai district staged a road roko on Friday, led by the Desiya Thennindhiya Nadhigal Inaippu Vivasayigal Sangam state president P. Ayyakannu, opposing the establishment of a Seaweed Park in the village.
Police sources said a group headed by Mr. Ayyakannu blocked the road near the Gandharvakottai bus stand opposing the establishment of the park on the grounds that it would severely affect farmers and lead to depletion of water table.
