Vijayawada’s Kanaka Durga temple announces schedule for Dasara celebrations
The Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada has announced its schedule for the upcoming ten-day Dasara festival, running from October 11 to October 20, 2026. The event will feature traditional rituals, VIP visits, and public darshan, with online booking options available for specific religious services.
Why it matters
As a major religious event, the festival attracts significant crowds and requires coordinated state-level logistical planning for public safety and religious observance.
Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada will celebrate Dasara from October 11, 2026, to October 20, 2026, Kanaka Durga temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik said, while announcing the schedule for the festival on Friday.
During the ten-day festival, Goddess Kanaka Durga will bless devotees in various alankarams (divine forms). Several key events and VIP visits have also been scheduled for the festival.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will offer holy silk robes (Pattu Vastramulu) to the Goddess on behalf of the State government between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm on October 16. The Endowments Commissioner will attend the Archaka Sabha at Sri Mallikarjuna Maha Mandapam on October 17. Endowments Secretary will honour poor scholars and pundits on October 18, the temple EO said.
