Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore said on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) that Rahul Gandhi is the prime ministerial candidate and emphasised that Chief Minister Vijay should continue in his role as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Regarding the polls projecting CM Vijay as one of the popular choices for Prime Minister, Mr. Tagore said, “Rahul Gandhi is the Prime Ministerial candidate. We are clear that Chief Minister Vijay should continue as the Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu, as he is providing a corruption-free governance, and that his government should be strong.
