Vigilance seeks action against Pallassana village officials

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has recommended action against employees concerned of the Pallassena village office over alleged irregularities linked to a private quarry. The irregularities came to light during a Vigilance inspection conducted on September 5. Vigilance officers suspect that quarry owners acquired government and private land using forged documents with the support of village officials.

According to the Vigilance findings, land with no registered claimants was identified during the digital survey. It suspected that fake documents were later prepared to claim ownership of some of this land.

The land records were allegedly manipulated to benefit a private quarry operating in the area. The inspection found that the quarry owners had acquired around 50 acres of land by bypassing provisions of the Land Reforms Act. More than eight acres were allegedly obtained using forged deeds.
