Vietnamese firm targets Canadians with fake AI news for profit, CBC/Radio-Canada investigation reveals
A CBC investigation has uncovered a Vietnamese company, HTV Network, that uses AI to generate fake news and clickbait content targeting global audiences, including Canadians. The network operates hundreds of Facebook pages and websites to monetize inflammatory and misleading content through advertising.

The CEO, Ngo Anh Tan, had reason to celebrate that night. Since launching as an "international media company" that connects the "world with authoritative journalism" almost two years earlier, HTV now had at least 100 employees, according to a Vietnamese job listing.
But what the company purports to do contrasts vastly with its true nature, an investigation by CBC’s visual investigations unit and Radio-Canada’s Décrypteurs discovered.
