Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been installed as the spokesperson and community leader for the Mt Kenya region at a traditional ceremony held at Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu County, drawing a crowd of more than 50,000 elders from across the region.

Senior government-allied figures were present at the event, which saw the elders formally endorse Kindiki as the voice who will represent and champion Mt Kenya interests at the national level.
