Victorian royal commission into corruption in construction sector holds secret hearings

The royal commissioner investigating corruption in Victoria's construction sector has issued a warning to "all people who have done wrong" in the first public hearing.

Allegations to be probed by the commission include that the CFMEU threatened industrial action to force employers to pay extravagant wages to "unqualified associates" of union bosses.

Two blocks of hearings will be held before the end of this year and the royal commission's findings are due by August 2027.
