Vermillio launches SDK and pitches ‘AI-Guardrails-as-a-Service’

Vermillio has launched a new software development kit (SDK) designed to provide 'AI-Guardrails-as-a-Service' for the music and publishing industries. The technology allows rightsholders to control how their likeness and IP are used by generative AI models while providing tools for detection and attribution.
Why it matters
This represents a significant step in legal and technical efforts to protect creative IP from unauthorized use in generative AI training and content generation.
Vermillio is one of the startups focusing on likeness and IP protection for rightsholders, including those in the music industry. Sony Music co-led a $16m funding round for it in March 2025 . Now the company is launching its software development kit (SDK), which in turn powers what it’s calling “AI-Guardrails-as-a-Service for the music industry”. This is tech that helps artists to set out how their name, image, likeness and voice can and can’t be used by GenAI models, as well as detection tools that labels, artists and streaming services can use to identify and attribute music used in AI tracks.
