Venkatagiri’s Poleramma Jatara kicks off with royal rituals
The traditional Poleramma Jatara folk festival commenced in Tirupati with royal rituals. Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy formally initiated the event, presenting silk offerings and announcing substantial financial contributions from both the state government and himself. Devotees also contributed gold ornaments for the deity.

The traditional folk festival of Venkatagiri town, the ‘Poleramma Jatara’, got off to a colourful start at the Goddess Poleramma temple in Tirupati on Thursday.
Minister for Endowments Anam Ramanarayana Reddy carried the silk ‘vastram’ on his head and formally handed it over to the temple authorities on behalf of the State government.
The State government sanctioned ₹50 lakh for the festival, and it even released ₹40 lakh in the first phase. Devotees and donors have contributed in the form of a crown, hands, feet and ornaments, all made of gold, to be adorned on the deity.
