Vehicles transporting minerals should be fitted with GPS by September 30: Virudhunagar Collector
The Virudhunagar Collector has mandated that all vehicles transporting minerals in the district must install AIS-140 standard GPS devices and integrate them with the MIMAS portal by September 30, 2026. This directive applies to vehicles from quarries, crusher units, and mineral stock yards, with non-compliant vehicles unable to obtain trip sheets from October 1.

All the vehicles transporting minerals from quarries, crusher units and minerals stock yards in Virudhunagar district have been instructed to instal vehilce location tracking device (GPS) and integrate them with MIMAS portal.
In a statement, Collector, Sharanya Ari, said that the GPS equipment should be that of AIS-140 standard and should be procured only from vendors recognised by the State Government.
Quarry operators, crusher owners and those running stock yard of minerals should comply with the directive by September 30. Only those vehicles that have the GPS equipment fitted would be given trip sheets from October 1, the Collector said.
