Vasan urges Tamil Nadu government to secure release of fishermen’s boats from Andhra Pradesh

Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) leader G.K. Vasan on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) urged the Tamil Nadu government to take steps to secure the release of the fishing boats of Tamil Nadu fishermen, which were recently confiscated by the Andhra Pradesh government.
In a statement, Mr. Vasan said that seven fishing boats of fishermen from Tamil Nadu were confiscated by officials of the Andhra Pradesh government on June 16. They have not been released as yet, and it has affected the livelihood of the fishermen, he said.
“The Tamil Nadu government should hold talks with the Andhra Pradesh government to find a durable solution that would not affect the livelihood of fishermen from Tamil Nadu,” the former Union Minister said.
Mr. Vasan, while speaking to reporters in Bhavani, Erode, expressed hope that the State government would convene an all-party meeting at an appropriate time to discuss the Cauvery water issue.
