The Varapuzha Archdiocese on Tuesday (August 1, 2026) commenced the celebrations into the run-up to the sesquicentennial of its elevation as an archdiocese which will fall in 2036.

Archbishop Joseph Kalathiparambil hoisted the jubilee flag marking the beginning of the 10-year-long celebrations at St. Francis Assisi Cathedral on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the archdiocese. The flag was also hoisted at all parish churches under the archdiocese.

The Archbishop led the Holy Mass at the cathedral in connection with the 140th anniversary celebrations.
