The Lok Sabha passed the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which makes insulting the national song Vande Mataram a punishable offence, while heated exchanges continued in the Rajya Sabha.The opposition also staged protests inside and outside Parliament, demanding that Union home minister Amit Shah answer allegations of excessive force against student protesters.
