In exchange, Lebanon has agreed to search for the bodies of Jewish Lebanese citizens missing since the civil war decades ago.
“We welcome Israel’s release of prisoners as part of the Lebanon-Israel Trilateral Framework. This is a positive step,” U.S. Embassy Beirut posted on X. “We urge both sides to continue to build on this momentum ahead of the next round of talks.”
Since the beginning of Operation Epic Fury, Israel has been pushing back against provocations from Hezbollah, an Iran-backed terrorist group based in Lebanon.
