Vadamalayan Hospital launches advanced surgical robot in Madurai
Vadamalayan Hospital in Madurai has inaugurated a new advanced surgical robot to enhance precision in various medical procedures. The hospital aims to provide more accessible and affordable robotic surgery options to the local population.
Why it matters
The adoption of robotic surgery in regional hospitals improves patient outcomes by reducing recovery times and surgical risks, signaling a shift in healthcare accessibility in southern India.
Robotic surgery offers unparalleled advantages, including greater precision, 3D magnified vision, minimal blood loss, smaller incisions and less pain, said Vaddi Chandra Mohan, Head, Department of Urology and Managing Director of Preeti Urology and Kidney Hospitals, Hyderabad, here on Thursday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the state-of-the-art surgical robot at Vadamalayan Hospitals, he said that robotic surgery also ensured faster recovery and shorter stays in hospital.
Sharing his experience of using the robot from SSI, the noted urologist said that it would be handy across specialities, including cardiothoracic, urology, gynaecology, gastrointestinal surgery, oncology and general surgery.
Vadamalayan Hospital Chairman and Managing Director V. Pugalagiri, in his welcome address, said that for nearly seven decades, the hospital had been at the forefront of adapting cutting-edge medical technology. “It is truly the future of surgery with a human touch,” he added.
