Vaccination drive against cervical cancer in Mohmand from Nov 2-14

The Mohmand district administration in Pakistan is launching a cervical cancer vaccination campaign for 42,000 girls aged 9 to 14. The initiative aims to address the high prevalence of the disease by providing HPV vaccines through school and door-to-door outreach.

MOHMAND - The district administration of Mohmand will launch a special vaccination campaign against cervical cancer from November 2 to 14, targeting 42,000 girls aged 9 to 14 years.
Chairing an awareness meeting regarding the campaign in his office, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Iftikhar Uddin said cervical cancer poses a real threat and can be prevented through timely vaccination. He said 50 per cent of the target will be achieved in girls' schools and colleges across the district. He said the vaccine helps control the disease at an early stage and spares patients from severe complications in later stages.

Unfortunately, he added, there is a general perception in our society of ignoring symptoms and not seeking timely treatment.
