The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) apprehended a civil police officer attached to the Nedumangad police station while accepting a bribe on Friday (September 18, 2026).

The accused, identified as Biju, was caught by the Vigilance officers. He was arrested on the basis of a complaint by a Panavoor native who had approached the Nedumangad police station for documents related to a road accident that occurred in March in order to claim compensation.

Biju purportedly demanded that the paperwork be routed through a lawyer of his choice, despite the complainant having a different legal representative. The officer then contacted the lawyer directly, demanding a bribe of ₹10,000 to hand over the case documents.
