Chairperson of V. O. C. Port Authority Susanta Kumar Purohit garlanded the statue of V. O. Chidambaram Pillai on the port campus and offered floral tributes.
At the event organised at the V. O. C. Port premises, Mr. Purohit recalled the life, sacrifices and indomitable spirit of V. O. Chidambaram Pillai and his pioneering efforts towards establishing the Swadeshi steam navigation company.
Outlining the port’s significant achievements in container traffic growth and its initiatives to strengthen maritime infrastructure and capabilities, Mr. Purohit highlighted the port’s efforts towards the green maritime transition through green ammonia, green hydrogen and renewable energy initiatives.
