Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approves lifelong free bus travel for women aged 60 and above

Women aged 60 years and above will be eligible for lifelong free travel on all Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses under the Lokmata Ahilyabai Matrushakti Yojana approved by the State Cabinet on Tuesday (August 25, 2026).
“The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken an important decision towards women’s empowerment and providing them with better transportation facilities. Taking forward the resolve of ‘Sashakt Nari’ under the Lok Kalyan Sankalp-2022, the State government has announced free travel facilities for women above 60 years of age in ordinary buses of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. The decision will provide financial relief to senior women while giving them greater independence and convenience in commuting,” reads an official statement.
