The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it carried out a fresh wave of offensive strikes against Iranian military targets on July 12, saying the operation was aimed at weakening Iran's capacity to continue attacks on international commercial shipping passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the strikes were intended "to degrade Iran's ability to continue attacking international shipping flowing through the Strait of Hormuz."
The command disclosed that the operation focused on a range of Iranian military assets, including air-defense systems, coastal radar installations, missile and drone capabilities, as well as small naval boats.
It stated that the offensive involved a combination of U.S. fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones, and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones.
