The US Embassy in Jakarta has issued a demonstration alert for US citizens in Indonesia ahead of planned protests on Thursday, warning of possible crowds, road closures and traffic disruptions in the capital.
In the alert, the embassy said it had received reports of demonstrations planned at several locations across Indonesia, including central Jakarta. One of the main sites is the House of Representatives (DPR) and People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta.
A demonstration near the parliament complex was expected to begin at around 10 a.m. local time, according to the alert.
