The US Coast Guard continued to search Sunday for six passengers who were aboard a medical transport flight that vanished while flying from Bermuda to Boston the prior day, authorities said.

The jet went missing early Saturday morning and searchers found debris about 20 miles off the coast of Nantucket, but the people aboard the jet have yet to be located among the recovery.

“Our priority is to locate the six personnel and aircraft,” Matthew Lake, the Northeast district commander for the US Coast Guard, said at a press briefing Sunday at the Coast Guard’s Boston base.

Coast Guard boats, planes, and helicopters launched the search off Nantucket after the transport flight disappeared early Saturday. Air traffic controllers in New York had struggled to communicate with the jet as it plunged toward the Atlantic Ocean.
