UPDATE: Jacko Lake wildfire south of Kamloops being held at 44 hectares
A wildfire near Jacko Lake in Kamloops, British Columbia, has grown to 50 hectares, prompting a response from the BC Wildfire Service. While the fire is currently being held, the region remains under a severe thunderstorm watch with high winds and potential lightning.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the South Thompson region. According to its hourly forecast as of publication, Environment Canada projects Kamloops to experience a few showers or thunderstorms through Sunday (Aug. 23) afternoon.
The weather agency is calling for around five to 10 millimetres of precipitation in Kamloops Saturday night, except for around 25 millimetres for areas near thunderstorms. Wind gusts of up to 60 km/h are also expected, except for areas near thunderstorms, which could experience gusts of up to 80 km/h.
