UP RERA offers 4-month extension to projects hit by Middle East disruptions
The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has granted a four-month extension for project completion deadlines. This relief applies to projects with expiry dates between February 2026 and October 2026, citing disruptions in the Middle East as the primary cause.
Why it matters
This policy provides critical regulatory relief to real estate developers facing supply chain or financial delays, protecting both project viability and consumer interests.
The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has allowed eligible registered real estate projects an additional four months to complete their stipulated timelines, taking into account the prevailing situation in the Middle East and its impact on the real estate sector. The relief will cover both the registration validity of the projects and their prescribed completion period, the authority said on Tuesday. The extension will cover projects for which the original, revised or previously extended completion date falls between February 28 and October 31, 2026. The additional four months will be counted from the existing expiry date of the project's registration.UP RERA said the move followed an advisory issued by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on July 31.
