UP govt renames Noida International Airport after PM
The Uttar Pradesh state cabinet has officially renamed the Noida International Airport to Narendra Modi International Airport. The decision commemorates the Prime Minister's 25 years in public office and his contributions to the state's development.
Why it matters
This renaming reflects the ongoing political alignment between the UP state government and the central leadership, highlighting the symbolic importance of infrastructure projects in political branding.
Noida: Nearly four months after flight operations began from Noida International Airport, the state cabinet on Friday renamed it Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the decision was taken to mark the completion of 25 years of the PM’s public life. While the renaming will not affect the airport’s IATA code DXN, it will require changes to official name displays, branding and booking-related information.“Noida International Airport is a major gift to UP from the PM. In the coming years, this airport will take the state’s economy, industry, tourism and global connectivity to new heights. With this very sentiment, the cabinet has passed the proposal,” the CM said.Yogi also credited the PM for UP’s industrial growth, its development as a major IT hub and the expansion of social welfare schemes to cover crores of beneficiaries.
