Until Dawn 2's sun-kissed horror gets a PS5 release date - and the studio behind last year's brilliant Dispatch is involved

Sony has announced a release date for Until Dawn 2, which shifts the horror franchise to a tropical setting. The game is being developed by Firesprite Games with narrative support from AdHoc Studio.
Why it matters
This represents a significant expansion of a popular horror intellectual property, highlighting ongoing trends in narrative-driven gaming and studio collaboration.
As we learned previously, some big changes are afoot in Until Dawn 2. For starters, the snow-covered alpine resort setting of the first game is making way for sun-kissed tropical climes, where a successful crew of TV ghosthunters (the Dead True) is about to embark on its latest assignment.
"After an investigation at Blackwood Sanitorium takes a chilling turn," Sony explains in its release date announcement, "an encounter with supernatural survivor Yoona leads them to Akishima Island, a remote paradise abandoned for decades and hiding secrets far older than any of them imagined."
