University of Sydney opens Single

The ACRF Single Cell Cancer Proteomics Laboratory has opened at the University of Sydney, allowing scientists to examine individual cancer and immune cells in detail to investigate why some cancer cells survive treatment, regrow and spread.

Located within Sydney Mass Spectrometry at the Charles Perkins Centre, the facility is Australia’s first dedicated laboratory focused on single-cell cancer proteomics and will be available as a national resource for researchers across Australia.

The facility represents a $4.2 million combined investment from the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) and the University of Sydney, with support from the Cancer Institute NSW. It was officially opened by NSW Minister for Medical Research the Hon. David Harris MP.

Minister Harris said; “Thanks to this facility for the first time researchers in Australia will be able to see cancer and immune cells in unprecedented detail which has lifesaving potential for cancer patients.
