United States Grand Prix: Max Verstappen says Austin track bumps 'unacceptable' and 'out of control'

Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen has criticized the track conditions at the Circuit of the Americas, labeling the bumps as 'unacceptable' and 'out of control.' He argues that previous attempts to fix the surface have been ineffective and that the track requires a full reconstruction to ensure driver safety.

F1 Correspondent in Austin Published 22 October 2026 Max Verstappen says the bumps on the track that hosts this weekend's United States Grand Prix are "unacceptable" and "out of control".
The Dutchman said drivers had complained about the condition of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and attempts by the organisers to resolve it had not worked.
Red Bull's Verstappen said: "I love this track, I love this place. It's one of the best layouts ever and it's one of the best venues, best city to be at.
"But for me the bumps are unacceptable. Over time they've been grinding a little bit here and there but it's just putting a plaster on the big problem.
