Union cabinet approves quadrupling of Gummidipoondi-Gudur section
The Indian Union Cabinet has approved the quadrupling of the railway section between Gummidipoondi and Gudur with an investment of ₹2,229 crore. This project is part of a larger initiative to improve high-density network routes and support the Vizag–Chennai Industrial Corridor.

The Central government has sanctioned ₹2,229 crore for the construction of the third and fourth lines from Gummidipoondi to Gudur. The decision was taken at a Union Cabinet meeting held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
According to a press release, the quadrupling of the tracks from Gummidipoondi to Gudur was announced along with four other railway projects in the country with a total outlay of ₹13,000-crore.
