Ukrainian President Zelenskyy arrives in North Bay

Dozens of vehicles lined up along Airport Road near Jack Garland Airport's fence in anticipation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's arrival. The 1:30 p.m. original flight was delayed and pushed back to 4:05 p.m. on the Ukrainian Air Enterprise flight from Toronto. The landing was the tail end of a quick three-day Canadian trip which started in Calgary on September 9.

Zelenskyy and his wife, First Lady Olena Zelenska, were announced as making stops in Calgary, Toronto and North Bay during the visit. People started gathering around 1 p.m. to get a glimpse of the world leader. Multiple sources say his stop involved greeting Ukrainian pilots who have been training out of the ITTC flight training facility at Jack Garland Airport.

He confirmed the reason for his stop on X Friday night.
