Ukraine-US dispute to top EU foreign minister talks

EU foreign ministers are meeting in Luxembourg to address the escalating tensions between the Trump administration and Ukraine. The discussion follows Donald Trump's controversial call for a leadership change in Ukraine and his unilateral declaration of an 'energy ceasefire'.
Why it matters
The dispute threatens to undermine Western solidarity against Russia and complicates the EU's ongoing support and accession plans for Ukraine.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Helen McEntee has described as "concerning" US President Donald Trump's call for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to be replaced as leader while at the same time entering into a deal with Moscow for millions of tonnes of Russian diesel to be released on to the world market.
"I think it is concerning, and I think the decision over the weekend certainly is," she said.
In a statement, Mr Trump said, "effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine".
"Both parties have agreed. Do not break it!" he wrote on his Truth Social network without any further details.
Mr Zelensky claimed he would stop attacks on Russian refineries if Russia stopped targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
There was no immediate response from Russia.
