UK weather: Another heatwave on the way as heat health alerts issued

England and Wales are experiencing an extended dry spell, with some areas recording no rain for 50 consecutive days. The UK Health Security Agency has issued heat health alerts as temperatures are expected to rise again.

As the extremely dry spell continues across much of England and Wales, a small village in Surrey has notched up 50 consecutive days without rain this summer.
Wisley, most famous for being the site of the 240-acre garden owned by the Royal Horticultural Society, previously saw 36 continuous dry days back in the hot summer of 1976 - but that record has been comfortably exceeded so far this year, with no rainfall since mid-June.
