Uisce Éireann considering nighttime curbs in Dublin area
Uisce Éireann is warning residents in the Greater Dublin Area that nighttime water restrictions may be implemented due to record-breaking consumption levels. The utility is urging the public to conserve water and avoid non-essential outdoor use to prevent supply shortages.

Uisce Éireann has said it is considering nighttime restrictions on water in the Greater Dublin Area if water use is not reduced in and around the capital.
It comes as a new record was set for water usage in the region in recent days, with 693 million litres used in a single day.
That is 8 million more than the last reported record in May and 50 million litres above the year-to-date average
Uisce Éireann says the increase in water usage is being driven by a combination of garden watering, power hosing and other outdoor domestic use during this prolonged hot and dry weather and that the pattern of continued high use is increasing risk to supplies.
It said reservoir levels are dropping by up to 30 million litres on peak usage days which it says show the need for urgent conservation.
