Uganda team manager has 'no idea' why boxers have disappeared

Four Ugandan boxers who competed in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow have gone missing after failing to board their return flights. Team officials are unaware of their whereabouts or their reasons for disappearing, though speculation suggests they may be seeking asylum.

The team manager for the Ugandan Commonwealth Games team has told BBC Scotland News he has no idea why four boxers with the team have vanished.
Two men and two women who competed for Uganda at the Games failed to turn up for their scheduled flights home and have since turned off their mobile phones.
Media reports in Uganda , external suggested the four may be looking to seek asylum, but Uganda's chef de mission Godwin Kayangwe said he hoped the athletes would return home before their visas expire in October.
Police say inquiries are ongoing into a number of Commonwealth athletes who have failed to turn up for homeward flights, but it is understood little can be done until the existing visas expire.
