“We are working on the relocation from Cairo to the New Cairo, where we were given land, and we have prepared a Cabinet paper to allow us to perhaps sell the property that we have in Cairo,” Bagiire revealed.

The Ugandan Government plans to relocate its embassy in Cairo to another city in Egypt known as New Cairo.
According to official information, the metropolis was established in 2000 as part of Egypt's strategic effort to alleviate chronic congestion in Greater Cairo by decentralising population and economic activity.
permanent secretary Vincent Bagiire disclosed the development on September 2, 2026, while appearing before members of Parliament on the Public Accounts Committee (Central), chaired by Patrick Guma-Oshabe Nsamba (Kassanda North, NUP).
