UFC 333 weigh-in results: Championship bouts set, prelim fighter misses weight by almost 5 pounds - MMA Fighting

UFC 333 fighters have officially weighed in for the upcoming event in Abu Dhabi, with all championship contenders meeting their weight requirements. However, preliminary fighter Nicolle Caliari missed weight by 4.5 pounds, resulting in a purse penalty and a catchweight bout.
Why it matters
Weight misses are significant in professional combat sports as they impact fighter safety, card integrity, and betting markets.
Alexander Volkanovski, Movsar Evloev, Petr Yan, and Merab Dvalishvili are set to shine at UFC 333.
All four championship fight competitors successfully made weight for Saturday’s card in Abu Dhabi, with Volkanovski weighing in at 144.5 pounds for his main event featherweight title defense against the undefeated Movsar Evloev (145), and Yan and Dvalishvili both weighing in at 135 pounds for their co-main event trilogy bout with Yan’s bantamweight title on the line.
Unfortunately for the card, it wasn’t all good news, as preliminary strawweight competitor Nicolle Caliari came in well over the 115-pound limit, even with a one-pound allowance for a non-title fight. Caliari officially registered at 120.5 pounds, 4.5 pounds heavy, and as a result her bout with Iasmin Lucindo (115) will proceed at a catchweight with Caliari forfeiting 30 percent of her purse as penalty for the egregious miss.
