UEDCL Moves to Boost Power Supply in Isingiro, Ntungamo, Rukungiri
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has begun integrating the Mirama Hills Substation into the national grid to improve power reliability. The project aims to stabilize electricity supply for over 30,000 consumers across four districts.

Electricity consumers in Isingiro, Ntungamo, Rukungiri and parts of Rwampara are set to benefit from improved power supply reliability following the start of works to integrate the Mirama Hills Substation into Uganda’s electricity distribution network.
The integration works began after the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) installed a 15 megavolt-ampere (MVA) power transformer at the Mirama Hills Substation.
The works involve splitting the existing Kikagati-Ntungamo feeder at Mirama Hills into two sections. One section will supply Ntungamo, Rukungiri and parts of Rwampara, while the other will supply Isingiro and surrounding areas.
The project is also expected to provide a more efficient route for evacuating electricity generated by the Kikagati Hydropower Plant on the Kagera River in Isingiro District.
Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) said the intervention will benefit more than 30,000 domestic consumers and 700 commercial consumers across the four districts.
