Udupi: Two drown in river near Karkala
Two men drowned while swimming in the Suvarna river in Udupi district on Tuesday. Local authorities and rescue teams recovered the bodies after a search operation.

The police identified the deceased as Harshan, 21, and Bharath, 29, both residents of Hirangana village.
The officers said the two deceased and their friends Ranjith, 27, and Ketan, 23, went to swim in the river around 2.30 p.m. Harshan and Bharath got stuck in the water current, while Ranjith and Ketan managed to safely swim back to the shore. Local swimmers and firemen searched for Harshan and Bharath using ropes, life jackets and a drone. Their bodies were found at around 6 p.m.
