The Udupi City police have arrested two Uttar Pradesh natives, who are allegedly associated with the UP-based Bediya gang, in connection with a house-break theft reported in Ambalpady in Udupi in July.
The police gave the names of the accused as Mohammed Jaffer, 22, and Kadir, 32, both natives of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh. The police recovered articles worth ₹4.5 lakh from the arrested persons.
In a press note, the police said cash and other articles, in all worth ₹6.1 lakh, were stolen from the house of 70-year-old A.S. Ramamurthy by breaking open the door lock between July 1 and July 9, when he had gone to his daughter’s house in Mangaluru.
