DMK Youth Wing president and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday met Vilathikulam DMK MLA G.V. Markandayan in Palayamkottai Central Prison, where he has been remanded in judicial custody after being arrested for his alleged derogatory and threatening comments against Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
During an informal chat with reporters after his brief meeting with Mr. Markandayan in the prison, Mr. Udhayanidhi said the MLA was happy and courageous to be in Palayamkottai Central Jail, where former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had been lodged. The TVK government was “foisting fake cases” against DMK functionaries and the leaders in a bid to threaten the party.
