Presenting the annual Budget in the Assembly, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said the government has proposed distribution of an “essential food kit” which would contain items, such as wheat flour, ragi flour, toor dal, sugar and ghee after suitably modifying the quantity of rice presently being supplied to ration cardholders. The scheme was being evolved with a plan to provide a more nutritious and balanced food basket to all ration cardholders in the Union Territory.
