The U.S. Ryder Cup team is changing how players qualify for the 2027 matches at Adare Manor, putting far more emphasis on current form and eliminating carryover points from the previous season.
Under the new system announced by the PGA of America, qualifying will begin at The American Express in January 2027 and run through the BMW Championship in August. A total of 31 events will count toward the standings.
That means no points from the 2026 majors or other tournaments will carry into the process.
The top six eligible Americans on the points list after the BMW Championship will automatically make the team. Captain Jim Furyk will then fill the remaining six spots with captain's picks following the Tour Championship.
The biggest events will carry the most weight.
