Alam Badi Azami, 90, the oldest member of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha and a five-time MLA from the Nizamabad assembly constituency in Azamgarh district, died at his residence in Azamgarh in the early hours of Thursday (July 23, 2026). The deceased was unwell for some time and was recently discharged from Medanta Hospital in Lucknow.
He represented the Nizamabad constituency five times between 1996 and 2007 and again from 2012 until now. Leaders from across parties expressed grief over the death. “The demise of senior Samajwadi Party leader and popular MLA from Nizamabad Assembly constituency of Azamgarh, Mr. Alam Badi Sahib, is extremely sad. May God give peace to the departed soul. May the bereaved family find strength to bear this immense sorrow. Heartfelt tribute,” wrote Mr. Yadav, on X.
